Here at Kiplinger, we expect lawmakers to reach a temporary agreement before the end of the year to avoid plunging over the cliff. There are likely to be short-term extensions of all expiring tax cuts, buying time for a grand bargain sometime in 2013. As Kiplinger’s Ken Bazinet says, “it’ll be another punt, but not a permanent failure.”
